Shia LaBeouf Reflects on His “Dirty, Ugly, Disgusting” Behavior After Mardi Gras Battery Charges

Shia LaBeouf is speaking candidly following his recent arrest in New Orleans, taking what he calls “1,000% responsibility” for his actions.
The Transformers actor was arrested on February 17 after authorities responded to reports of a disturbance at a business on Royal Street during Mardi Gras celebrations. According to a statement provided to E! News, LaBeouf was “reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive” inside the establishment.
Police say a staff member attempted to remove him from the premises. After being escorted outside, the alleged victim reported being struck multiple times with a closed fist. LaBeouf was subsequently arrested and charged with simple battery, categorized as a misdemeanor.
Now, the 38-year-old actor is publicly reflecting on the incident. In a February 28 interview on Channel 5 with journalist Andrew Callaghan, LaBeouf addressed the situation directly.
“I was drunk and I felt infringed upon in terms of my proximity,” he admitted. “But I wasn’t in my right mind, so it’s on me.”
The actor did not attempt to deflect blame. Instead, he described his behavior in stark terms.
“It was no good, bro,” he said during the interview. “My behavior is dirty, ugly, disgusting. So I’ve got to eat it, you know.”

LaBeouf emphasized that he is prepared to accept whatever consequences may follow. “I’ve got to do whatever it is. I’ll do whatever it is,” he added.
The arrest marks another public setback for the actor, whose career has been punctuated by both critical acclaim and controversy. Rising to fame in the mid-2000s through blockbuster films and acclaimed performances, LaBeouf has also faced a series of legal and personal struggles over the years.
In recent interviews prior to this incident, LaBeouf has spoken about working toward stability and personal growth, including addressing issues related to substance use and anger. His latest remarks suggest he sees the Mardi Gras incident as part of that ongoing struggle rather than something to excuse.
Legal experts note that a misdemeanor simple battery charge can carry penalties including fines, probation, or other court-mandated conditions, depending on the circumstances and the court’s ruling. As of now, the case remains pending, and no further details about court dates have been publicly confirmed.
Public reaction has been mixed. Some fans have expressed disappointment, while others have acknowledged his direct acknowledgment of wrongdoing as a step toward accountability.
What remains clear is that LaBeouf is not minimizing the situation. By calling his actions “ugly” and “disgusting,” he appears intent on confronting the moment head-on rather than distancing himself from it.
For an actor whose career has often mirrored his turbulent personal life, this latest chapter underscores the ongoing tension between talent and turmoil. Whether this incident becomes another turning point or simply another entry in a complicated narrative will likely depend on what happens next — both legally and personally.
For now, LaBeouf’s message is simple: he says he was wrong, and he is prepared to face the consequences.
